WELCOME TO BIG SKY
A TOWN BUILT ON HISTORY
A beautiful place such as Big Sky, Montana, didn't come from the easiest of beginnings. However, I'm sure the collective census will agree that everyone wants to make sure their beloved town stays beautiful. Today, that still rings true and would make good ol' Clovis Deveraux proud to see what it has become since the town created where he served as the first mayor of Big Sky! And no matter where you look, you can see the beauty in the town. From the view of the mountains to every store on Main Street, there's always something to see. If you ask me, someone who was born and raised in Big Sky, I'm always seeing something different even after all these years!
Big Sky was founded in 1893 and has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but mostly the city has done nothing but grow into what it is today: 131 years later. Visitors to Big Sky can enjoy the perks of living in a friendly place with access to a top-notch ski resort for their recreational enjoyment. There are plenty of places to shop and eat as well as an amazing theater! There's truly something to always peak your interest while you visit! Locals have the added bonus of enjoying exceptional schools for their children in Kindergarten through 12th grade! Once they're done with their first 12 years of school, they can move on to the award-winning Big Sky University to further their education while staying close to home!
No matter what it is though, Big Sky has it all that one would need or even possibly want! I know that I don't plan on leaving this beautiful place. As I was born and raised here, I aspire to also make sure my children and their children are also born and raised right here in this beautiful piece of Montana!
[smear:#4f7899]When it's love you give I'll be a man of good faith. Then in love you live. I'll make a stand. I won't break. I'll be the rock you can build on, Be there when you're old, To have and to hold.
When there's love inside I swear I'll always be strong. Then there's a reason why. I'll prove to you we belong. I'll be the wall that protects you From the wind and the rain, From the hurt and the pain.
Yeah! Hey!
Let's make it all for one and all for love. Let the one you hold be the one you want, The one you need, 'Cause when it's all for one it's one for all. When there's someone that should know Then just let your feelings show And make it all for one and all for love.
When it's love you make I'll be the fire in your night. Then it's love you take. I will defend, I will fight. I'll be there when you need me. When honor's at stake, This vow I will make:
Yeah!
That is all for one and all for love. It's all for love. Let the one you hold be the one you want, The one you need, 'Cause when it's all for one it's one for all. When there's someone that should know Then just let your feelings show And make it all for one and all for love.
Don't lay our love to rest 'cause we could stand up to the test. We got everything and more than we had planned, More than the rivers that run the land. We've got it all in our hands.
Now it's all for one and all for love. It's all for love. Let the one you hold be the one you want, The one you need, 'Cause when it's all for one it's one for all. It's one for all. When there's someone that should know Then just let your feelings show. When there's someone that you want, When there's someone that you need Let's make it all, all for one and all for love.[/smear:#8f143e:0]

Rosewood is a surname of English origin, derived from the Old English words 'rhos' meaning 'rose' and 'wudu' meaning 'wood'. It was typically given to individuals who lived near a rose wood or a rose tree. This name is often associated with beauty and strength, reflecting the characteristics of the rose tree itself.
In 1903, my great grandparents, Preston Rosewood and his wife Estelle, journeyed from England to the United States joining her brother and his family who had moved to Big Sky a couple of years before. Growing up his family had operated an Old Fashioned soda shop back in England. So he built his own soda shop here in Big Sky. Which I proudly own and run today with my own kids working in the shop with me.
As for me, I'm Michael Lane Rosewood. I was born to parents who had desperately wanted a child and were quite disappointed time and time again. Mom called me her miracle child that she finally had when they were in their forties. My parents are Josiah and Ramona Rosewood. They were the best of parents, and most would think that they spoiled me rotten. When I was two mom who thought I had been going through menopause found out she was pregnant, and shortly after had my little sister Nicole. I knew that they worked hard for what they gave me. I grew up spending time in the playpen at the Soda Fountain, and later always found at a booth in the Soda Fountain, after preschool and then grade school.
Always by my side was my best friend Graham Montague. His grandmother and my mother were best friends from childhood. We were inseparable, and my parents always included him in everything that was going on as well as his grandmother. If I got something he did too so he didn’t feel left out. That made me love my parents even more. I did chores growing up to earn what I got.
We got mini bikes when we turned four, and dad gave us lessons on riding. When I graduated to a dirt bike I felt like I was in heaven soaring through the air on the bike. Graham and I got them at the same time that year. Just in time for the snow to be melting. Dad worked with us training us, and got us in Motocross competing like he had before us.
We were a team till one day a blonde haired, blue eyed girl caught my eye. Her name was Zoe, and I made sure to include her in things with us. It wasn’t long before the three of us were fast friends. Even though I could tell that Graham was a bit jealous at first. With the three of us always together people started calling us the Three Musketeers which stuck with us. My parents owned and operated Rosewood's Soda Fountain so more often than not we were found there if we weren't out at the track. We had a corner booth that we hardly ever let anyone else sit with us. If we did then it was a special occasion.
Junior high came and we tried out for sports. I seemed to excel at them. Unlike Graham who was small for our age and had a bit more trouble. I stayed by him though glaring at those that laughed at him. I gave him tips that dad had given me over the years. Thankfully he made the team with me, and my mother and his grams were on the front row watching us on game days.
The weekend after Christmas some of the dad's took a lot of us kids on a skiing trip. We even got to stay in the resort over the weekend. The last day of it a blizzard hit. The electricity was knocked out for a couple of days. Everyone at the resort gathered round the fireplaces in the big resort. It was a great time, and I learned how to ski. When the roads were finally cleared a couple of days later, and we were able to go home we headed a few miles into town. I couldn't wait to get home and tell my parents all about my fun filled weekend. Dad met us at the clubhouse where the dads had arranged for the pickup of us kids.
Right away I could tell by Dad’s face that something was wrong. When he told us I looked at Graham in horror. When the electricity had gone out his grams ran out of firewood so she'd gone outside to get more. Graham had made sure to cut a lot and make sure she had more than enough inside and out in case of emergency before he left. He’d been exhausted falling asleep on the way up because he had cut extra. Unfortunately she must have fallen and not able to get up nor anyone hear her calling for help. She had frozen to death. I was devastated for Graham. She was the only family that he had. Graham broke down sobbing, and my father Josiah pulled him into his arms and held him as he sobbed.
Graham ran away and hid the day of the funeral not wanting to face it, and I didn’t blame him. When mom asked where he might be I told her knowing she was probably what he needed. Come to find out he was scared he was going to be taken away and never see us again. That he hadn’t had to worry about because his grandmother had made arrangements with my parents to take him in if anything ever happened to her. Zoe and I stuck right with Graham through everything being there for him. Right where we needed to be.
When I turned fourteen dad let me start working at the soda shop. and Graham joined me three months later when he turned fourteen. Dad took both of us when we turned sixteen to get our first Harley's. Both of us had saved up money to help pay for them, but he told us we would need that money, and he bought the bikes for us. Graham and I were still riding in Motocross as well and having the times of our lives during our teenage years. Graham and I prospected the Wild Wolves together when we turned eighteen. My dad was my sponsor as he had been a Wild Wolf since he was nineteen.
I asked Zoe to marry me and we were married shortly after with Graham as the best man. We took him with us on our honeymoon as we were in a love triangle and had been since we were teenagers. Graham left us to run off to Hollywood after that to make movies. Zoe and I started a family having five girls in nine years. Zoe was pregnant again and we found out it was a boy. I was bursting at the seams to finally have a boy. I couldn’t wait to have a boy to throw a football around with someday or even play kickball. Even baseball would be great teaching my son how to play.
When he came I couldn’t have been more proud and excited. I showed him off to anyone and everyone. We named him Guthrie Lane. We’d talked about making him a junior, but decided against it by giving him just my middle name. We didn’t want to put added pressure on him growing up. A couple of weeks after he was born Graham called telling us he had two babies dropped off on his doorstep that were his. He had DNA testing on the to make sure, and sure enough. He was in the middle of a scandal going on anyhow getting caught at a party with another guy, and it hit the tabloids.
A month later he was back in Big Sky living with us, and we were helping him raise the babies. It was chaos with our five girls and three babies. Hudson and Zariya were their names. Hudson and Guthrie were born on the same day. When his kids were two he got a movie deal and we sat down discussing it. It was the deal of a lifetime, and we told him to go for it. Zoe and I took in his kids raising them. He was back and forth when he could, and helped provide for them. He was there when we got his kids and Guthrie mini bikes. Unfortunately my son who was a bit small for his age turned his mini bike over already. I rushed over lifting it off of him. It was then I registered the other kids laughing. Before I could do anything I saw the tears streaking down Guthrie’s cheeks and he was running away from everyone.
Unfortunately things started going downhill then with my relationship with my beloved son. I had two more right after him barely a year apart. Guthrie was special though being my first born son. Don’t get me wrong I love all my kids, but that first born boy was the highlight of my life.
My world shattered one day when my little sister died giving birth to her twin girls. It was me who pulled Thorn back when he was going down that dark path. I put my life into my kids raising them and loving them getting him back on that path too.
When it came time for when Guthrie should be getting a dirt bike he wasn’t ready, but Hudson and Zariya were ready. I felt so bad seeing his downcast face when he saw them getting them. It was a year later before he finally was ready. With me busy at the cafe and other things my brother in law Thorn took over teaching Guthrie, taking that time away from me. Though Hudson and Zaryia and my older girls took up a lot of my time. When I was able to he was standoffish and I was teaching his younger brothers by now.
Time went on, and junior high hit for Guthrie. He was still small for his age, and having trouble with sports. Hudson though took to them like a pro. It was like the opposite of me and Graham. Guthrie went out for plays and things and I always had to work or something else came up. Zoe would get to them though, and tell me all about them. How good he was. He was even turning out to be a great singer.
When he turned fourteen he was a wreck when I let him start working at the Soda Shop. Tubs of dishes got broken. Something felt off about it though, but I ignored it by putting him on washing dishes. Hudson and Zaryia took right to it when I put them to work. My girls would run the front of the soda shop when they weren’t at school. Either university or high school.
Guthrie wasn’t doing bad in Motocross anymore either. He was growing tall and lanky, and I was proud of him. I never got the chance to tell him that though. Something was always coming up. He seemed to be growing more and more withdrawn. His sixteenth birthday was approaching, and I was growing excited. I started getting notes from him though saying things that hurt me. He wanted space and was withdrawing more and more from me no matter how much I tried.
Then I got one that said he didn’t want to get a Harley. No way was he following in my footsteps. That he hated that life and really didn’t want any part of it. I’ll be honest and say I shed a few tears over that one. I showed the notes to Zoe. She’d been getting after me to spend more time with our eldest son. Hudson pulled me away a lot though unfortunately. Getting me to do things with him. Graham was home for their birthdays, but Guthrie had sent us another note saying he didn’t even want to celebrate his sixteenth birthday. I really didn’t understand what was going on.
I went with Graham and the older kids to help Hudson and Zariya pick out their Harleys. He left me a note saying he hated working at the Soda shop and quit. That one really got to me. Then he ran away. Thankfully it was just to his Uncle Thorn’s. Zoe and I have been talking about how to go about this. There’s something darker and deeper going on here than we know, and we need to find out before it’s too late. I’m just glad my girls and younger boys seem to be happy and living their lives.

Rayne sat away from the others somewhat. As it seemed like everyone was paired off but for him. Or they were with their friends. They’d been back from Sturgis for only a few days, and his dad, Rowdy, and Cain were throwing a bash at their place to try and take off some of the stress from what the trip had been. The Oklahoma boys and his dad, and Cain were taking turns getting up on the stage and singing. Oh and even Clyde had gotten up and sang. Their kids called out songs for them to sing, and they’d pick one from one of them. Of course his dad hadn’t asked him. It was mainly his baby brothers and once in a while Rafe or Ryder would yell out one.
Sturgis hadn’t really been any fun and he and his brothers had never gotten that tattoo that he designed. With all hell breaking loose everyone was on high alert the next week so his father and brothers had forgotten about it. He’d slept off and on that next week after what had happened to him. At least the stitches had gotten taken out finally so he didn’t have that discomfort. Though it still aches some, and Stephanie had said it probably would for some time as hard as he had been hit. It itched and bothered him, but he refrained from messing with it not wanting to get it infected as it was healing. The bruises were still there, but not as bad as they had been.
His dad’s attention today was either on Rosanna or his baby brothers most of the time. Feeling tired and left out he got up to head inside to his room. Rafe and Ryder’s attention was on their new found girlfriends. His gaze fell on Athena then who was talking to some of the other kids in the Jr Club, and there were a couple of guys that she was laughing and having fun with. He felt a pang in his heart, and weaved in and out of people to head inside. A stray tear ran down his cheek as he got inside, and he quickly brushed it away. He hissed in his breath at the pain when he had forgotten a moment about his wound. With a deep breath he headed up the stairs when he came up on them.
It wasn’t that much of a walk down the hallway to his room. The pounding of the music and the roar of the crowd outside was inside the house too, and it was giving him a headache. So all he wanted to do was lay down and take a nap. Opening his door a sound caught his attention. Looking up he gasped as there were a couple of guys in the room with their girls having fun on his bed as well as Simon’s bed. He gaped in shock for a few moments, before turning bright red not knowing what to do. He jumped when one of them yelled at him to get out. Quickly he ducked out his head pounding even more and realized then that he wasn’t alone upstairs as he saw others in the hallways too.
Looking up and down the hallways he noticed people going in and out of the theater rooms too. Walking down to his dad’s room he thought he might find some relief in there, but his dad must have locked his door. He tried Rowdy’s and Cain’s finding both of them locked. There was nowhere to go he realized, and he headed back down stairs trying not to cry. That wouldn’t look good in front of the sons around. There was a lot that he had no idea who they were. Including the ones that had been in his room having fun. Feeling lost and really left out he turned at the stairs and a drunk son knocked into him knocking him down. He saw stars when his head hit the corner of a baseboard. Laughter was heard, and then they ignored him. Sitting up he held his hand to his head, and when he pulled away there was blood on his head.
He cringed as his head was killing him even more now. Pulling himself up he hears something crash and shatter somewhere. His vision was a little blurry now, and he felt the blood trickling down his forehead. There had to be somewhere that he could go, and he thought of the garage. Making his way down that way he put the code into the door knowing it had been locked up for the party. His dad was taking any chances with his panhead with someone messing with it. Once the door shut behind him the sound was suddenly gone as the garage seemed to be soundproof. His ears were ringing though from the never ending sound from before.
With an unsteady breath he made his way over to his bike not even fighting the tears now. Sitting on it he laid his head down against the cool gas tank and the sobs came unable to stop them. He wasn’t feeling good at all, and when he lifted his head a while later there was a lot of blood on his bike. Had to be from where he had hit his head. A ride might help him feel better was his thoughts, and he got off pushing his bike out a side door, and around some bikes getting on his bike after making sure the garage was locked back up. If it wasn’t his dad, Rowdy, and Cain not to mention the others with bikes in there would kill him.
Starting his bike he rode down the driveway with the guards not even looking twice at him as there were sons and jr club members coming right and left. Tears were still streaming down his cheeks and there was still blood trickling down so his vision was still a bit blurred. Right now he didn’t care, he just had to get away, and hopefully clear his head. His dad and brothers as well as the others would probably never even notice he was gone. They were having too much fun. A while later he realized that the ride wasn’t helping, and he stopped not even knowing where he was. He hadn’t been this way yet. Only the other direction into town. The throbbing in his head was even worse, and all he wanted was his dad right now.
Turning his bike around he tried to wipe the tears away and the blood, but it wasn’t helping much. With a deep breath he headed back. With his vision obscured, he didn’t see the cloud of dust coming down a dirt road not far away. When he turned on the next road thinking he was going in the right direction the car came out of nowhere. Unable to stop he ran right into it, and he was suddenly flying through the air. The impact of hitting the road knocked him out.
