WELCOME TO BIG SKY
A TOWN BUILT ON HISTORY
A beautiful place such as Big Sky, Montana, didn't come from the easiest of beginnings. However, I'm sure the collective census will agree that everyone wants to make sure their beloved town stays beautiful. Today, that still rings true and would make good ol' Clovis Deveraux proud to see what it has become since the town created where he served as the first mayor of Big Sky! And no matter where you look, you can see the beauty in the town. From the view of the mountains to every store on Main Street, there's always something to see. If you ask me, someone who was born and raised in Big Sky, I'm always seeing something different even after all these years!
Big Sky was founded in 1893 and has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but mostly the city has done nothing but grow into what it is today: 131 years later. Visitors to Big Sky can enjoy the perks of living in a friendly place with access to a top-notch ski resort for their recreational enjoyment. There are plenty of places to shop and eat as well as an amazing theater! There's truly something to always peak your interest while you visit! Locals have the added bonus of enjoying exceptional schools for their children in Kindergarten through 12th grade! Once they're done with their first 12 years of school, they can move on to the award-winning Big Sky University to further their education while staying close to home!
No matter what it is though, Big Sky has it all that one would need or even possibly want! I know that I don't plan on leaving this beautiful place. As I was born and raised here, I aspire to also make sure my children and their children are also born and raised right here in this beautiful piece of Montana!

Full Personality: •
Besides being the baby of the family I'm the quiet and shy one. It's not like I could get a word in edgewise anyhow with all the older brothers I have. I don't even bother since I just get lost in the flow. Being the odd one out I tend to be a loner since the older ones seemed to already be paired up. I made the number of brothers uneven. Sometimes it feels like I'm on the outside looking in. So I can be insecure, and paranoid about things.

The Deveraux family originates from Normandy. Locational name from "Evreux" in Eure, Normandy. The place is so called from having apparently been the capital of the "Eburovices", a Gaulish tribe. This tribal name appears in turn to derive from the river name "Ebura" (now the Eure), which may perhaps be akin to a Celtic word for the yew tree. The Deveraux’s were first introduced into England after the Conquest of 1066. Our family line ended up in Ireland till the late 1800’s and they immigrated to the United States.
My great great grandfather, Clovis Deveraux, was a young boy when his parents immigrated here to America, and they settled in the mountains of Montana. Coming from old money my family never hurt in that department. Our range became one of the biggest ranches in Montana. Handed down generation to generation. Large families spread out across Montana creating more ranches under the Deveraux name, but my generation comes from the eldest son of each generation that inherited the main ancestral home. Which has been added onto over the generations through blood, sweat, and love. Clovis was sixteen when Montana became a state, and four years later after marrying a Shoshone maiden he founded the town of Big Sky, Montana.
That Shoshone maiden was the great granddaughter of Sacagawea, who helped Lewis and Clark in exploring on their expedition. Sacagawea traveled with the expedition thousands of miles from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean, helping to establish cultural contacts with Native American people, and contributing to the expedition's knowledge of natural history in different regions. The National American Woman Suffrage Association of the early 20th century adopted Sacagawea as a symbol of women's worth and independence, erecting several statues and plaques in her memory, and doing much to recount her accomplishments.
Mom’s family came from Manhattan in New York City. Growing up in a penthouse apartment, only child of two absent-minded parents. Her dream was to have a large family. Her parents perished in a plane crash on one of their yearly ski trips to the alps when she was in her last year of high school. Dad had met her when he went to visit some of his cousins that lived in New York. When he came back to Montana after meeting her on one of his trips he wrote her daily, and she returned the letters. With no other family dad brought her home for holidays after that. They had barely graduated when they married. Mom was already pregnant with me though. Happily though. Sure she missed her parents, but she had never been close to them. My grandparents took her under their wing when she came to our family ranch.
Big Sky Ranch is the name of our family ranch. The closest town is Big Sky, Montana. It was actually founded by my great great grandfather who gave the ranch and the town the name of Big Sky. Our ranch lies at the base of the Snowcrest Mountain range. There’s nothing like sitting out on the balcony with a hot cup of hot chocolate with the beautiful mountains for a view. A roaring fire in the fire pit to keep you warm. As well as a throw thrown over you to ward off the chill of the freezing temperatures especially in the winter. I don't think our little town was even on the maps till they built the Big Sky Resort in 1973. It's a popular tourist attraction now.
Tristan and Valentina welcomed thirteen sons into this world. She called them her Lucky thirteen. They were married for twenty one years before they were killed along with Tristan's parents getting caught in a crossfire of a fight between dark wizards in Snowy Mountain. Their eldest son Tristan stepped in to raise his younger brothers with the help of a few of the older brothers who had graduated from Ilvermorny. In doing so he gave up his dreams, but encouraged each of his younger brothers into following theirs. That was twelve years ago, and the boys are doing the best that they can.
It was a hot humid day in July that I was born. The thirteenth son of my parents. My oldest brother, Tristan, told me my mother called me her Yankee doodle baby, and was singing that song as she laid in a lounge chair holding me as she watched the older boys shoot off fireworks with their cousins. She had me on the fourth of July. As for me I know only what my oldest brothers have told me about my parents. They died when I was two, and my eldest brother Tristan is the one who really raised me along with the other oldest boys, Connor, Patrick and Shae.
Growing up with twelve older brothers wasn't much fun. I was the baby so I wasn't allowed to do this or that. They paired up leaving me out of things. So I was really only close to the animals on the place. It was them I grew up with and when I would talk it would be to them. Which earned teasing from my older brothers. In turn that made me run from them to hide and cry. Tristan always knew where to find me though, and he'd come out after giving me awhile. Sit there in silence giving me more time. After a bit he'd pull me onto his lap and hold me telling me just to ignore them. That they were just teasing me. That was the problem though, that never stopped. It got worse when their own pets would gravitate towards me much to their dismay as I seemed to attract animals.
I was actually in the saddle before I could walk. Dad used to take me out riding well he took all of us younger ones for rides. After he died then I'd ride with my oldest brothers. I was put in a saddle of my own by the time I was four. Always on a horse that they trusted with me on it's back. Riding is one of my favorite pastimes. Even if I'm out helping bring in a herd of cattle or rounding up horses.
One of my earliest memories I was around five. My brothers right before took me up into the woods on the mountain, and were pretending they lost me. Unfortunately for them and me they really did lose me. At least it was during the summer and not the winter, but it still got cold when the sun went down that night. I was alone and scared. Having no idea where I was. My brothers had given up looking for me and headed back down the mountain and to the ranch house to tell our eldest brothers what had happened. I found out later that they were in a lot of trouble for what they had done. Deveraux's from far and wide were called in and search parties were sent out looking for me.
The search went on till later the next day when Tristan and one of my other older brothers found me hiding under a tree shaking in fear. I let out a scream when Tristan reached in where I had burrowed and pulled me out. When I realized it was him I clung to him sobbing in relief. I hadn't slept at all with all the noises that I heard during the night and day. Animals coming close and nosing at me. It had been a horrifying experience for the five year old me. He picked me up in his arms and tried to hand me up to one of my other brothers, but I wouldn't let go of him. So with one of their help he climbed up on his horse holding me and held me close on the way home. I fell asleep sobbing into him. For quite awhile after this I didn't stray far from Tristan's side.
As many of us that there were I would get lost in the shuffle sometimes too. I can remember three times that I got left behind somewhere by one of my eldest brothers. Out of all of us it was usually me that was forgotten. It wouldn't be long though before one of the elder brothers would notice I was gone, and they'd come to get me. I still have a fear of being left behind by one of my brothers. Nightmares from when they lost me up in the woods. Those nights I would climb into bed with Tristan who would just sigh and wrap an arm around me going back to sleep. Feeling safe then I would fall back asleep with no more nightmares the rest of the night.
For my eighth birthday I got my horse Clover. He was barely broke and Tristan let me help finish training him making him my own. Clover became my best friend and confident. I rode him all around our ranch. We explored every nook and cranny of it. One afternoon when I was helping round up cattle some of us stopped down by the River to water our horses. My brothers were relaxing on the rocks when two of them started arguing. Ignoring them as usual I didn't see how close they were coming to me in their fighting/wrestling. I was along the shoreline of the river skipping rocks. I didn't even know what hit me when they rolled into me, and the force of it threw me into the river that was flowing pretty good. It took me a few moments to get my bearings after hitting my shoulder on a rock getting pushed in. I was fighting for air when I finally surfaced, but the current had caught me and was taking me downstream. The water was barely above freezing.
I didn't see Clover come running and knock my stupid brothers into the river too that had jumped up realizing what they had done. Being older and stronger they were able to make their way to the river edge. Unlike me who was fighting the current. Before any of them could stop Clover he ran down the edge of the river finding a place he could jump in and he swam after me. I was shocked when Clover was suddenly there beside me, and I reached out getting a hold of the saddle horn. It was a little more ways down stream, before he dragged me out of the currant and towards dry land. I let go falling to the rocky ground when I was out of the water. Laying there I tried to catch my breath and let my strength return. I remember hearing my oldest brothers yelling at the ones who had been fighting, and someone pick me up, before I had passed out.
When I started Junior high somehow they left off the Deveraux on my name, and they were calling me Rory Cameron. I tried to tell them I was a Deveraux, but the teachers thought I was joking. My older brothers at home were too busy to listen to me. I felt like I was being pushed to the side as usual. It wasn't till a couple of boys were pushing me around in the lunch line. They were eighth graders, and ones who had picked on Noah before. He didn't have lunch at this time. Bailee came from the back and laid into the boys as she helped me up and grabbed some napkins handing them to me as my nose was bleeding. She got it out of me why they were picking on me, and she went straight to the principal making sure that things were fixed with my name, and made it known that I was a Deveraux. I was glad it wasn't me on the receiving end of her anger. Since I didn't feel like going back to class or really eating she called Shea to come get me.
I don't think he was very happy getting called away from the ranch, but I don't think it was aimed at me. When he was signing me out he had a bit of a meeting with the principal. I sat there in the office waiting. Noah ducked into the office and asked if I was alright seeing the blood on me. He'd heard through the grapevine what had happened. I told him I'd be fine. He told me next time to let him know what was going on. I didn't tell him that I had tried, but nobody at home would listen to me either. Shea came back out then, and Noah greeted him before heading to lunch. It wasn't till we got in the truck that my stomach rumbled and I realized I was hungry now. Thankfully he took the hint and headed right to Anarchy Bar and Grill letting me get what I wanted. I got the fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy with corn that was one of my favorites.
Things were good from there on out. Tristan sat down with me, and we had a talk. He told me that I needed to make myself heard instead of just giving up. I didn't know how that was going to work around this house, but I told him I would try. The year flew by, and it was the last week of school. I had to stay after school so Noah had went by himself to head over to where we met our brothers to get a ride home. Usually we just sat there by their bikes waiting for them to get out of practice. I was just leaving school when to head over there when Patrick pulled up and yelled at me to get on. By the urgency of his voice I knew something was wrong. I took the helmet he shoved at me quickly putting it on, and got on behind him.
I was surprised when he pulled up to the hospital parking by our other brothers bikes and vehicles. I was shocked when he told me that Noah had been jumped and beaten up really bad. When I hesitated following him into the hospital he wrapped an arm around me and led me in. All of our other brothers were already there. With all the chaos I was surprised that one of them had thought to pick me up. Tristan was pacing the floor and only glanced at us as we walked in. It seemed like an eternity till Connor came out of the ER. He'd been called in, but it was Kayla Garard who had treated Noah. Connor had stayed in the room with them though. He said it wasn't good. Noah had a concussion, broken ribs, and multiple contusions. He was being admitted to the hospital, and would probably be there for a while.
We got to see him about an hour later, and he looked horrible. Tristan was going to stay at the hospital that night, but Connor said it would be better for him to stay. He was off the next day, and after that he'd switch some shifts around so they could take turns, but the first night he wanted to be there. Tristan agreed knowing he was right. I was getting texts, but had ignored them, and my stomach was in knots from all of this. I noticed my brothers in high school were on their phones and texting back. My phone was blowing up and I finally looked at it. I had a lot of texts and missed calls from friends. There was a group chat that I was included in ratting out who had jumped Noah. I narrowed my eyes knowing he used to be one of Noah's best friends. So had the others been. They'd all done that dungeons and dragons stuff together, but they'd quit when they'd got into JR high.
Tristan told me not to be walking anywhere alone from now on. That I was to wait at the JR high till one of my brothers picked me up. I didn't think I had to worry about it since it was Noah they were targeting. I didn't argue though, and just nodded. The next day when I got to school the first one I ran into was the boys who had jumped Noah. I didn't even think I just saw red and leaped at Kyle. I got in a few choice hits, and he was laying on the ground groaning when his friends pulled me off of him. Instead of just letting me go though they shoved me into a locker holding me there and started pounding on me. Daniel Delancey, Brett Taggart, Mordecai Rosewood, and Liam Garard that were eighth graders were suddenly there pulling them off of me and fighting. They all had ties to the MC too. I groaned as I slid down to the floor leaning back against some lockers.
It was total chaos there, and we all got taken to the vice principal's office. Kyle knocked me into the door when we walked in, and another one tripped me up which started another fight. Suddenly Beau Vanderson was there, and let out a shrill whistle. The fighting stopped quickly, and Beau told them all to sit down on opposite sides of the hospital. He leaned down checking me over as I was trying to sit up. He was a High school teacher so I wondered what he was doing on this side of the school. He asked if I was alright, but before I could answer someone called out my name. I looked up and groaned seeing my older brothers that were in high school there. There friends were with them too. It was no wonder Beau was over here. He must have gotten wind of what they planned to do.
Before anyone could do anything my brothers went after Kyle, and another fight broke up. A few more teachers showed up, and Beau helped break them up. The principal and Vice Principal were not happy. Parents were called and my older brothers. When Tristan got there he wasn't happy at all. He'd barely gotten to the hospital with Patrick who had stayed there to relieve Conner. He came straight to me. I was sitting up in a chair now with a split lip, bloody nose, and my eye was swelling up. When the principal started in blaming my brothers and the other kids from the club he stopped him. "Stop right there!" He pointed at the principal. "Those boys over there jumped Noah yesterday putting him into the hospital. Just because he's into Dungeons and Dragons. When each and everyone of them used to be his friend and in it with him. They aren't interested in it anymore, but because he was they picked on him constantly about it. All of this on school property. I could have a law suit against you. I have Tyler James on speed dial if you keep this shit up. From what I'm hearing they ganged up on Rory this morning too." He was about to go on, but I stopped him.
"Not till after I went after Kyle for what he did to Noah. I got in a few hits, before they got me." He admitted seeing Tristan look at him, and raise an eyebrow. He said he'd get to me later, and he and the principal and Vice principal went in the Vice Principals office to talk then. "You should have kept quiet." Liam smirked at me and there were a few laughs from our friends and brothers. In the end I got suspended for the rest of the school year as did all of the boys involved. Our electronics were taken away by our older brothers, and we had extra chores to do. Those extra chores though were Noah's which we didn't mind at all.
We were allowed to go see Noah though. Tristan had a long talk with me. I wasn't in trouble, but he didn't think I would have found my voice at the time that I had. In the long run we all got a lecture about fighting on school grounds. Though it would have been okay if it had been off school grounds. With Kyle still getting it from our friends his parents packed their family up and left town. At least that problem was solved. Each of us made sure to be there for Noah when he did come home from the hospital.
After that summer I guess you could say things went back to normal. I'm a freshman this year having made it through eighth grade last year. Noah is still all into his Dungeons and Dragons stuff, and I actually go with him to the LARP place that Tristan found for him. It's actually quite fun. I've also fallen in love, but the girl doesn't even see me. Sure as a friend, but she's in love with someone else. She hasn't told me who, but she gushes about him to me quite a bit. It breaks my heart when she does. Then today she dropped the bombshell that it was my older brother Alaric whose a senior that she likes, and asked me if he would even notice her as a freshman. Or if he just thought of her as my best friend. Talk about a rude awakening. I'd never be as good as Alaric in anything. It really sucked!

Rayne sat away from the others somewhat. As it seemed like everyone was paired off but for him. Or they were with their friends. They’d been back from Sturgis for only a few days, and his dad, Rowdy, and Cain were throwing a bash at their place to try and take off some of the stress from what the trip had been. The Oklahoma boys and his dad, and Cain were taking turns getting up on the stage and singing. Oh and even Clyde had gotten up and sang. Their kids called out songs for them to sing, and they’d pick one from one of them. Of course his dad hadn’t asked him. It was mainly his baby brothers and once in a while Rafe or Ryder would yell out one.
Sturgis hadn’t really been any fun and he and his brothers had never gotten that tattoo that he designed. With all hell breaking loose everyone was on high alert the next week so his father and brothers had forgotten about it. He’d slept off and on that next week after what had happened to him. At least the stitches had gotten taken out finally so he didn’t have that discomfort. Though it still aches some, and Stephanie had said it probably would for some time as hard as he had been hit. It itched and bothered him, but he refrained from messing with it not wanting to get it infected as it was healing. The bruises were still there, but not as bad as they had been.
His dad’s attention today was either on Rosanna or his baby brothers most of the time. Feeling tired and left out he got up to head inside to his room. Rafe and Ryder’s attention was on their new found girlfriends. His gaze fell on Athena then who was talking to some of the other kids in the Jr Club, and there were a couple of guys that she was laughing and having fun with. He felt a pang in his heart, and weaved in and out of people to head inside. A stray tear ran down his cheek as he got inside, and he quickly brushed it away. He hissed in his breath at the pain when he had forgotten a moment about his wound. With a deep breath he headed up the stairs when he came up on them.
It wasn’t that much of a walk down the hallway to his room. The pounding of the music and the roar of the crowd outside was inside the house too, and it was giving him a headache. So all he wanted to do was lay down and take a nap. Opening his door a sound caught his attention. Looking up he gasped as there were a couple of guys in the room with their girls having fun on his bed as well as Simon’s bed. He gaped in shock for a few moments, before turning bright red not knowing what to do. He jumped when one of them yelled at him to get out. Quickly he ducked out his head pounding even more and realized then that he wasn’t alone upstairs as he saw others in the hallways too.
Looking up and down the hallways he noticed people going in and out of the theater rooms too. Walking down to his dad’s room he thought he might find some relief in there, but his dad must have locked his door. He tried Rowdy’s and Cain’s finding both of them locked. There was nowhere to go he realized, and he headed back down stairs trying not to cry. That wouldn’t look good in front of the sons around. There was a lot that he had no idea who they were. Including the ones that had been in his room having fun. Feeling lost and really left out he turned at the stairs and a drunk son knocked into him knocking him down. He saw stars when his head hit the corner of a baseboard. Laughter was heard, and then they ignored him. Sitting up he held his hand to his head, and when he pulled away there was blood on his head.
He cringed as his head was killing him even more now. Pulling himself up he hears something crash and shatter somewhere. His vision was a little blurry now, and he felt the blood trickling down his forehead. There had to be somewhere that he could go, and he thought of the garage. Making his way down that way he put the code into the door knowing it had been locked up for the party. His dad was taking any chances with his panhead with someone messing with it. Once the door shut behind him the sound was suddenly gone as the garage seemed to be soundproof. His ears were ringing though from the never ending sound from before.
With an unsteady breath he made his way over to his bike not even fighting the tears now. Sitting on it he laid his head down against the cool gas tank and the sobs came unable to stop them. He wasn’t feeling good at all, and when he lifted his head a while later there was a lot of blood on his bike. Had to be from where he had hit his head. A ride might help him feel better was his thoughts, and he got off pushing his bike out a side door, and around some bikes getting on his bike after making sure the garage was locked back up. If it wasn’t his dad, Rowdy, and Cain not to mention the others with bikes in there would kill him.
Starting his bike he rode down the driveway with the guards not even looking twice at him as there were sons and jr club members coming right and left. Tears were still streaming down his cheeks and there was still blood trickling down so his vision was still a bit blurred. Right now he didn’t care, he just had to get away, and hopefully clear his head. His dad and brothers as well as the others would probably never even notice he was gone. They were having too much fun. A while later he realized that the ride wasn’t helping, and he stopped not even knowing where he was. He hadn’t been this way yet. Only the other direction into town. The throbbing in his head was even worse, and all he wanted was his dad right now.
Turning his bike around he tried to wipe the tears away and the blood, but it wasn’t helping much. With a deep breath he headed back. With his vision obscured, he didn’t see the cloud of dust coming down a dirt road not far away. When he turned on the next road thinking he was going in the right direction the car came out of nowhere. Unable to stop he ran right into it, and he was suddenly flying through the air. The impact of hitting the road knocked him out.
