WELCOME TO BIG SKY
A TOWN BUILT ON HISTORY
A beautiful place such as Big Sky, Montana, didn't come from the easiest of beginnings. However, I'm sure the collective census will agree that everyone wants to make sure their beloved town stays beautiful. Today, that still rings true and would make good ol' Clovis Deveraux proud to see what it has become since the town created where he served as the first mayor of Big Sky! And no matter where you look, you can see the beauty in the town. From the view of the mountains to every store on Main Street, there's always something to see. If you ask me, someone who was born and raised in Big Sky, I'm always seeing something different even after all these years!
Big Sky was founded in 1893 and has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but mostly the city has done nothing but grow into what it is today: 131 years later. Visitors to Big Sky can enjoy the perks of living in a friendly place with access to a top-notch ski resort for their recreational enjoyment. There are plenty of places to shop and eat as well as an amazing theater! There's truly something to always peak your interest while you visit! Locals have the added bonus of enjoying exceptional schools for their children in Kindergarten through 12th grade! Once they're done with their first 12 years of school, they can move on to the award-winning Big Sky University to further their education while staying close to home!
No matter what it is though, Big Sky has it all that one would need or even possibly want! I know that I don't plan on leaving this beautiful place. As I was born and raised here, I aspire to also make sure my children and their children are also born and raised right here in this beautiful piece of Montana!

I like to think that I am cool even though my older brothers laugh at me. I like to have fun with my friends and family. I have a deep sense of pride for my heritage. I try to hide when I'm hurt from my older brothers not wanting to be babied. I hate being one of the youngest and getting called baby boy. I love Dungeons and Dragons and playing it. The Deveraux family originates from Normandy. Locational name from "Evreux" in Eure, Normandy. The place is so called from having apparently been the capital of the "Eburovices", a Gaulish tribe. This tribal name appears in turn to derive from the river name "Ebura" (now the Eure), which may perhaps be akin to a Celtic word for the yew tree. The Deveraux’s were first introduced into England after the Conquest of 1066. Our family line ended up in Ireland till the late 1800’s and they immigrated to the United States.
My great great grandfather, Clovis Deveraux, was a young boy when his parents immigrated here to America, and they settled in the mountains of Montana. Coming from old money my family never hurt in that department. Our range became one of the biggest ranches in Montana. Handed down generation to generation. Large families spread out across Montana creating more ranches under the Deveraux name, but my generation comes from the eldest son of each generation that inherited the main ancestral home. Which has been added onto over the generations through blood, sweat, and love. Clovis was sixteen when Montana became a state, and four years later after marrying a Shoshone maiden he founded the town of Big Sky, Montana.
That Shoshone maiden was the great granddaughter of Sacagawea, who helped Lewis and Clark in exploring on their expedition. Sacagawea traveled with the expedition thousands of miles from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean, helping to establish cultural contacts with Native American people, and contributing to the expedition's knowledge of natural history in different regions. The National American Woman Suffrage Association of the early 20th century adopted Sacagawea as a symbol of women's worth and independence, erecting several statues and plaques in her memory, and doing much to recount her accomplishments.
Mom’s family came from Manhattan in New York City. Growing up in a penthouse apartment, only child of two absent-minded parents. Her dream was to have a large family. Her parents perished in a plane crash on one of their yearly ski trips to the alps when she was in her last year of high school. Dad had met her when he went to visit some of his cousins that lived in New York. When he came back to Montana after meeting her on one of his trips he wrote her daily, and she returned the letters. With no other family dad brought her home for holidays after that. They had barely graduated when they married. Mom was already pregnant with me though. Happily though. Sure she missed her parents, but she had never been close to them. My grandparents took her under their wing when she came to our family ranch.
Big Sky Ranch is the name of our family ranch. The closest town is Big Sky, Montana. It was actually founded by my great great grandfather who gave the ranch and the town the name of Big Sky. Our ranch lies at the base of the Snowcrest Mountain range. There’s nothing like sitting out on the balcony with a hot cup of hot chocolate with the beautiful mountains for a view. A roaring fire in the fire pit to keep you warm. As well as a throw thrown over you to ward off the chill of the freezing temperatures especially in the winter. I don't think our little town was even on the maps till they built the Big Sky Resort in 1973. It's a popular tourist attraction now.
After my parents got married they started having babies left and right. I was number twelve of thirteen boys. Tristan, Connor, Patrick, Shea, Rafferty, Declan, Finley, Rowan, Liam, Alaric, Ronan, me, and Rory. My name is Noah Reed Deveraux. Tristan says that mom called us her Lucky Thirteen. I wish I could have known her. I was only three when my parents went to town to do some shopping along with my grandparents. They got caught in a shootout between some criminals and the law. None of the survived. Tristan gave up his life sacrificing a lot to keep us boys together.
I grew up here in Big Sky going to school. I liked being outside doing adventurous stuff though instead of learning so I was more towards the bottom of my class. Not like I cared anyhow. I hated having to read till I read a book about Dungeons and Dragons, and then I was hooked. I begged my older brothers to get me more books about Dungeons and Dragons. Tristan just smiled, and since he was usually busy on the ranch the new few older brothers would bring me one home every few days. I'd take it and run to one of my reading places that I had sought out since learning to read.
Over the years my bookshelf has filled up with D&D books much to my delight. I even go back and reread them every chance I get. My older brothers would pick me up books too on their travels and other things. Kids at school teased me about Dungeons and Dragons calling me a nerd. Didn't know how I was a nerd though when I didn't like studying or anything. I found a few others that liked the theme, and we started a group playing the game. Which developed into actually playing it out. Tristan let us use a part of the mountain to do so. My older brothers helped build the area for us where we played. Bailee or Jenna would video us so we could watch them later. We would have a campout and watch it on a big screen outside.
On weekends we weren't playing D & D. I had Motocross along with my older brothers. It was fun flying through the air, and taking the lead in my races. It was a thrill I got like any other. We traveled all over for these events having fun with some of the other kids that had grown up in the club life. I loved the competition even if I wasn't as good as my brothers or friends. I won my share of races though.
By the time we were in junior high though there were only a few of us left, and the others only showed up once in a while. After a while nobody showed up on the weekends. I guess our fun was over by then. My brothers still teased me about it. One of the boys that I wasn't friends with anymore started picking on me in school. Eighth grade was about over, and I was just trying to ignore him. One day they jumped me after school as I was walking over to the high school to ride home with one of my older brothers.
When I came to the EMT's were there working on me. I was in and out as they took me to the hospital. I barely remember bits and pieces knowing my older brothers had shown up at some time or other. I'd suffered a concussion, broken ribs, and multiple contusions. I was out of it for a few days. My friends in the club had found out who had jumped me, and they retaliated. I don't really remember much about being in the hospital, and I was there for a few days. I missed the last two weeks of school. That was the least of my worries though with the pain that I was in. At least they gave me pain relievers to subside it.
Going into summer was a bitch though till I healed as hot as it was getting out. I stayed pretty much in the air conditioning with my brothers splitting my chores between them. I had gotten a whole stack of new Dungeon and Dragon books and movies. Even after what happened to me I didn't let that deter me from reading and watching the movies. Tristan or one of my other older brothers would join me once in a while watching the movies. Bailee and Jenna would make cookies and other kinds of treats for me. Her specialty was limeade slushies. I would sit out on the back porch enjoying those, and my brothers would take breaks joining us for one.
Once I was healed I had to do my own chores again, though it took me some time to get back into a routine so my brothers without my knowledge were still helping me. Toward the middle of the summer I was almost back to myself. I hadn't been to town since I had been jumped, and I was already dreading having to go to high school this coming year. Being a freshman was going to be hard enough, but having to worry about my nemesis wasn't going to help at all.
We had the big 4th of July celebration on the ranch with all of the MC and their families like every summer. It was the highlight of my summer so far. The weekend after the fourth though my brother, Tristan told me to get in the truck bright and early on Saturday morning. We drove out in the country farther to where there was a camp-like place. Tristan introduced me to a couple of local College professors who had a LARP camp there. It was a larger and full scale Dungeons and Dragons pretty much. I was hooked, and loved it. Tristan stuck around not wanting to leave me alone. I was welcomed though and got to enjoy the day.
Tristan or one of my other older brothers have taken me back there more than a few times a year. Even joining in once in awhile. Rory's come with us and had fun too. I did go back to school with the support of my brothers last year. They definitely had my backs, and the main instigator behind my back had moved away after my friends made sure that he wasn't welcome around anymore. I'm starting my sophomore year, and have a great group of friends that have fathers or older brothers in the Wild Wolves. Some of them have joined me playing Dungeons and Dragons and going to LARP with me. Things are going pretty good, and I hope it stays that way. Some of my friends have been going through hell lately, and losing family members. That I really don't know if I could handle.

Rayne sat away from the others somewhat. As it seemed like everyone was paired off but for him. Or they were with their friends. They’d been back from Sturgis for only a few days, and his dad, Rowdy, and Cain were throwing a bash at their place to try and take off some of the stress from what the trip had been. The Oklahoma boys and his dad, and Cain were taking turns getting up on the stage and singing. Oh and even Clyde had gotten up and sang. Their kids called out songs for them to sing, and they’d pick one from one of them. Of course his dad hadn’t asked him. It was mainly his baby brothers and once in a while Rafe or Ryder would yell out one.
Sturgis hadn’t really been any fun and he and his brothers had never gotten that tattoo that he designed. With all hell breaking loose everyone was on high alert the next week so his father and brothers had forgotten about it. He’d slept off and on that next week after what had happened to him. At least the stitches had gotten taken out finally so he didn’t have that discomfort. Though it still aches some, and Stephanie had said it probably would for some time as hard as he had been hit. It itched and bothered him, but he refrained from messing with it not wanting to get it infected as it was healing. The bruises were still there, but not as bad as they had been.
His dad’s attention today was either on Rosanna or his baby brothers most of the time. Feeling tired and left out he got up to head inside to his room. Rafe and Ryder’s attention was on their new found girlfriends. His gaze fell on Athena then who was talking to some of the other kids in the Jr Club, and there were a couple of guys that she was laughing and having fun with. He felt a pang in his heart, and weaved in and out of people to head inside. A stray tear ran down his cheek as he got inside, and he quickly brushed it away. He hissed in his breath at the pain when he had forgotten a moment about his wound. With a deep breath he headed up the stairs when he came up on them.
It wasn’t that much of a walk down the hallway to his room. The pounding of the music and the roar of the crowd outside was inside the house too, and it was giving him a headache. So all he wanted to do was lay down and take a nap. Opening his door a sound caught his attention. Looking up he gasped as there were a couple of guys in the room with their girls having fun on his bed as well as Simon’s bed. He gaped in shock for a few moments, before turning bright red not knowing what to do. He jumped when one of them yelled at him to get out. Quickly he ducked out his head pounding even more and realized then that he wasn’t alone upstairs as he saw others in the hallways too.
Looking up and down the hallways he noticed people going in and out of the theater rooms too. Walking down to his dad’s room he thought he might find some relief in there, but his dad must have locked his door. He tried Rowdy’s and Cain’s finding both of them locked. There was nowhere to go he realized, and he headed back down stairs trying not to cry. That wouldn’t look good in front of the sons around. There was a lot that he had no idea who they were. Including the ones that had been in his room having fun. Feeling lost and really left out he turned at the stairs and a drunk son knocked into him knocking him down. He saw stars when his head hit the corner of a baseboard. Laughter was heard, and then they ignored him. Sitting up he held his hand to his head, and when he pulled away there was blood on his head.
He cringed as his head was killing him even more now. Pulling himself up he hears something crash and shatter somewhere. His vision was a little blurry now, and he felt the blood trickling down his forehead. There had to be somewhere that he could go, and he thought of the garage. Making his way down that way he put the code into the door knowing it had been locked up for the party. His dad was taking any chances with his panhead with someone messing with it. Once the door shut behind him the sound was suddenly gone as the garage seemed to be soundproof. His ears were ringing though from the never ending sound from before.
With an unsteady breath he made his way over to his bike not even fighting the tears now. Sitting on it he laid his head down against the cool gas tank and the sobs came unable to stop them. He wasn’t feeling good at all, and when he lifted his head a while later there was a lot of blood on his bike. Had to be from where he had hit his head. A ride might help him feel better was his thoughts, and he got off pushing his bike out a side door, and around some bikes getting on his bike after making sure the garage was locked back up. If it wasn’t his dad, Rowdy, and Cain not to mention the others with bikes in there would kill him.
Starting his bike he rode down the driveway with the guards not even looking twice at him as there were sons and jr club members coming right and left. Tears were still streaming down his cheeks and there was still blood trickling down so his vision was still a bit blurred. Right now he didn’t care, he just had to get away, and hopefully clear his head. His dad and brothers as well as the others would probably never even notice he was gone. They were having too much fun. A while later he realized that the ride wasn’t helping, and he stopped not even knowing where he was. He hadn’t been this way yet. Only the other direction into town. The throbbing in his head was even worse, and all he wanted was his dad right now.
Turning his bike around he tried to wipe the tears away and the blood, but it wasn’t helping much. With a deep breath he headed back. With his vision obscured, he didn’t see the cloud of dust coming down a dirt road not far away. When he turned on the next road thinking he was going in the right direction the car came out of nowhere. Unable to stop he ran right into it, and he was suddenly flying through the air. The impact of hitting the road knocked him out.
